Today, 16 February 2026, marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the first H2. This took place at a cold and windy Alton Water, in Suffolk. Present were several well-known people from the dinghy scene, including sailmaker Jim Hunt from HD Sails (supplier of sails for the H2), journalist Dougal Henshall, and Merlin Rocket ace Chris Gould.
The photo shows my wife, Brenda, at the launching ceremony for H2 number 101 ‘Fire and Rain’. Most fittingly, after the many hours of work he had put into the development of the H2, Hadron Dinghies’ director Simon Hipkin (standing behind Brenda) was the first person to jump in and sail the boat.
Ten years on, with over 100 H2s sailing in 6 countries, the latest H2 will be unveiled next weekend (21-22 February 2026) on stand D26 at the RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show, taking place at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre.
